Phase 3, which includes the construction of the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB), runway strip, and runways, has achieved actual accomplishment of 41.35 percent as of last month, with a target completion set for January next year.

The terminals of three other airports in Mindanao are currently undergoing rehabilitation, the CAAP said.

The terminal of M’lang Airport, along with the construction of its power house, parking areas, and other facilities is on-going. The expansion and rehabilitation of the General Santos Airport were placed at 52.10 percent
complete,  while the PTB at Davao International Airport was programmed to be completed by January 2026.

CAAP director general Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo said there were also unsolicited proposals for several airports in the region.

“As part of the government mandate to increase private participation in government projects, CAAP has received unsolicited proposals for nine airports. Three of these are in Mindanao, namely Laguindingan International Airport, Davao International Airport, and Siargao Airport,” said Tamayo during the Aviation Summit held in General
Santos on Feb. 5.

The summit was organized by the Department of Transportation to discuss priority projects in the air industry with sector stakeholders.

Tamayo said once those projects were expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the supply chain and travel experience for Filipinos, leading to economic acceleration in Mindanao.
