Quiapo Church, also called the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, was formally declared on Monday as a national shrine by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines. Quiapo Church holds special significance as the guardian of the revered Black Nazarene, a centuries-old and miraculous statue that captivates millions of Catholic devotees annually during its grand procession every Jan 9.
