The local government of Samal, Bataan has initiated a low-cost housing project to benefit poor fishing communities near flood-prone areas.
Municipal Administrator Jay Lat said the housing program of Mayor Alex Acuzar is set to benefit some 133 poor families or more in the municipality.
The mayor already ordered the clearing of one hectare of land in Barangay Tabing-Ilog to give way for the construction of the housing project.
Lat said the housing project is expected to provide decent houses to poor fishing residents of Barangay Tabing-Ilog and nearby areas particularly those living in flood-prone river banks.
“Mayor Acuzar wants decent houses for our poor constituents,” Lat assured.
Municipal officials plan to build more housing facilities in the municipality in the near future with the support of the provincial government.
