The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Wednesday that more than 2,000 individuals were affected by adverse weather conditions due to shear line over the Davao Region.
In its latest situation report, the NDRRMC disclosed these 2,212 affected individuals or 552 families were residing in 14 barangays across the provinces of Davao de Oro, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
Of these numbers, 446 families or 1,800 individuals were displaced and currently staying in seven activated evacuation centers to ensure their safety.
The report also stated that five roads and one bridge have become impassable. Furthermore, educational activities have been suspended in 27 areas, and work has been called off in 14 areas within the Davao region.
The report further highlighted instances of flooding in nine areas across Davao de Oro and two in Davao Del Norte. There were also three “rain-induced” landslides in Davao de Oro.
As of this posting, the NDRRMC has not received any reports of casualties or damage caused by the shear line.
Continuous monitoring and assessment are being conducted to address the situation and provide necessary assistance to the affected communities.
