LTO: Driver’s license cards to be delayed

THE Land Transportation Office on Monday said the distribution of driver’s licenses on plastic IDs is facing another delay due to technical issues for 4 million donated cards, and that its current supply of cards will run out in two weeks.

LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II admitted the agency could not make good on its promise to print plastic cards and release them sometime this week.

“I am very confident that before April, we already have the cards,” he said, adding his office is still waiting for the final opinion from the Office of the Solicitor General to ensure the legality of the donation of 4 million cards. Some 10 to 12 million cards are needed for 2024, Mendoza said.
