Marcos vows to continue clean up plan

President Marcos on Tuesday reaffirmed his commitment to monitor and sustain the momentum of the nationwide clean-up program “Kalinisan sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

In a short video message, President Marcos outlined the ongoing initiatives of the administration, emphasizing the continuous focus on order and cleanliness in every barangay.

“What’s new here? What’s new that we’re establishing in the New Philippines? We’ll continue to improve order and cleanliness in every barangay; we’ll measure the performance of the Barangay Council every month, and we’ll recognize and honor outstanding performances,” the President said.

The Chief Executive also said: “Above all, the order and cleanliness in each barangay will be the focus of your President. That’s something new in the New Philippines. Fellow barangay members, I salute you for that.”

Building on the initial success of the program, President Marcos highlighted the vital role of su tained “bayanihan” efforts, especially in cleaning up roads, canals, markets, and schools to foster greener, healthier, and safer communities nationwide.

Moreover, Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. announced on Tuesday, January 9, that the administration has successfully collected over 5.1 million kilograms of trash since the initiation of the nationwide clean-up program.

According to the national status report, 5,143,775 kilograms of trash were gathered by 1,234,844 participating individuals and 245,393 local
officials.

Secretary Abalos revealed plans for quarterly recognition of local government units efficiently implementing President Marcos’ KALINISAN
program to ensure sustained participation in the government’s initiative.
