President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged the public to plan for the long weekends this year as he posted the holiday calendar for 2024 on his Facebook account.
“Let’s make the most of the long weekends in 2024 with our family and loved ones,” he said.
“Let’s also prepare well for our transactions and vacations for a productive and bountiful year,” the President added.
Based on the President’s post, the long weekends for 2024 are:
– March 28 (Maundy Thursday), 29 (Good Friday), 30 (Black Saturday) and 31 (Easter Sunday)
– Aug. 24 (Saturday), 25 (Sunday) and 26 (National Heroes Day)
– Nov. 1 (All Saints’ Day), 2 (All Souls’ Day) and 3 (Sunday)
– Dec. 28 (Saturday), 29 (Sunday), 30 (Rizal Day) and 31 (Last Day of the Year, a special non-working day).
Last October, Mr. Marcos declared the regular and special non-working holidays for 2024, which did not include the EDSA People Power Revolution commemoration on February 25, will fall on a Sunday this year.
The regular holidays for 2024 are as follows:
Jan. 1 – New Year’s Day
March 28 – Maundy Thursday
March 29 – Good Friday
April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan
May 1 – Labor Day
June 12 – Independence Day
Aug. 26 – National Heroes Day (Last Monday of August)
Nov. 30 – Bonifacio Day
Dec. 25 – Christmas Day
Dec. 30 – Rizal Day
The special non-working days, on the other hand, are as follows:
Aug. 21 – Ninoy Aquino Day
Nov. 1 – All Saints’ Day
Dec. 8 – Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary
Dec. 31 – Last Day of the Year
Mr. Marcos also declared additional special (non-working) days: Feb. 10 – Chinese New Year; March 30 – Black Saturday; Nov. 2 – All Souls’ Day; and Dec. 24 – Christmas Eve.
