The Taguig City Council has passed an ordinance allowing private employers to no longer require job applicants to secure a clearance or a permit from the Office of the Mayor.
Ordinance 109 would save job seekers not only time but also the additional expenses of paying such requirements.
The amendment is aligned with Mayor Laarni Cayetano’s program to encourage residents to actively seek employment and engage in their professions.
“Our commitment is anchored in the constitutional mandate to provide full protection to labor and to promote full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all. We strive to simplify processes, making them more accessible for individuals contributing to Taguig’s vibrant workforce,” Cayetano said.
Meanwhile, the city government upgraded its training center to become a higher-tier technical and vocational education and training facility.
The improvement of what is now called the Taguig Manpower Training and Assessment Center (TMTC) is part of the local government’s “continuous effort to provide more employment opportunities to residents.”
As the first local government unit in the National Capital Region to lead a training and assessment center, TMTC offers six registered and accredited programs of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in hospitality, technology, healthcare, and technical vocation.
“Aligned with the City’s Transformative, Lively, and Caring agenda, TMTC takes the lead in preparing individuals with industry-relevant skills, fostering a workforce ready for a better and prosperous future in Taguig,” Cayetano added.
