Just in time for the festive season, Chef Lovely Jiao of Sugarplum Pastries returns with her Christmas Classics, a collection of all-time favorite holiday treats and sweets.
For this special series, the dessert innovator behind the never-done-before dessert concepts rounds up her top bestsellers as she looks back at the strong 14 years of the brand.
“It was pure nostalgia,” she beamed. “We can see how much we have evolved and improved into what Sugarplum is today.”
Headlining the selection is the Meringue Tower. In true Chef Lovely fashion, this creative confection is a delightful structure of chocolate truffles, candy canes, and cinnamon cookies that promises to be a scene-stealing centerpiece in any holiday spread.
Meticulously curated for kids of all ages, the crowd-favorite season-inspired Cookie-Do calls for an interactive bonding time with family and friends. This year, the exhilarating DIY set comes with a bigger cinnamon biscuit in the shape of a Christmas tree as well as cookies in the form of stars and presents.
It is complete with three piping bags of green, red, and yellow frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and candies, as well as Sugarplum’s signature chocolate smash balls with a wooden mallet for added fun.
The menu likewise includes Cakesicles, delectable chocolate-coated truffle cakes adorned with equally adorable characters from Santa Claus and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer to the traditional Snowman and Gingerbread Man.
The Yuletide-inspired Macarons, on the other hand, are elegant meringue sandwiches filled with decadent salted dulce de leche, white chocolate, or strawberry.
The Brownie Cheesecake introduces a generous blend of creamy and salty flavors, well complemented with dark and gooey brownie bites, whereas the Dark Maria is a succulent serving of moist dark chocolate topped with succulent strawberries.
The Peach and Mango Tres Leches is a melt-in-the-mouth sponge cake soaked in evaporated, condensed, and whole milk finished with the lightest whipped cream and the freshest mangoes and peaches.
Perfect as delightful gifts or tokens for this season of giving, the Christmas Trio offers an all-in-one package, to include the Banana Loaf, Dark Maria, and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies heartfully made with Chef Lovely’s mom’s well-loved personal recipe.
The Christmas Sampler likewise invites one into an assortment of macarons, cakesicles, and cinnamon cookies.
Completing the line-up are staples made extra magical this Christmastime: Cheesy, buttery, and fully Ensaimada; Banana Bread with dark chocolate topped with toasted walnuts; and INF Cookies with cashews, walnuts, and almonds.
“As we are all excited to once again to meet up with relatives and good friends that we have missed since the pandemic, our collection shares the same message: The warmest hugs and reunions of loved ones,” Chef Lovely shared.
Armed with a culinary degree from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (SHRIM), Chef Lovely has honed her skills at the Makati Shangri-La and F1 Hotel Taguig.
She established Sugarplum Pastries in 2011. Through the years, she has remained true to her philosophy – “No to boring desserts!” – and promises to only create the most enticing pastries to celebrate special moments.
