Domestic workers to get higher pay

Domestic workers in Metro Manila and minimum wage earners in Region XIII or Caraga Region should expect higher pay at the beginning of next year after the regions’ respective wage boards approved wage increases, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Friday.

In a statement, the DOLE announced that the National Wages andProductivity Commission (NWPC) affirmed on Dec. 13 the orders submitted by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Caraga and National Capital Region (NCR).

Caraga’s RTWPB also motu propio issued Wage Order No. RXIII-DW-04 which will increase the monthly minimum wage of “kasambahays” by P1,000, bringing the monthly wage rate for domestic workers in the region to P5,000.

Meanwhile, the RTWPB NCR likewise motu propio issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-04 on Dec. 12 increasing the monthly minimum wage of kasambahays by P500, bringing the new monthly wage rate to P6,500.
