PH picked to host next Pacific Air Navigation gab

The Philippines has been elected as the chairman and host of the 35th Meeting of the Asia Pacific Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group now being held at the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters Auditorium in Hong Kong.

“We are deeply honored to be elected as chairman as we work towards harmonizing the operational requirements of air navigation facilities in our region and in creating a more sustainable and resilient aviation sector,” said Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

Tamayo expressed the country’s full support for the fulfillment of the meetings’ goals and aspirations in developing Asia and the Pacific’s Air Navigation Planning and Implementation in line with the ICAO’s global initiatives on capacity building.

The Philippines was recently elected as Vice-Chair of the recently concluded 58th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA) held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

It is set to host the 59th Conference in Cebu next year.

The DGCA is an annual gathering of aviation directors general in the Asia and Pacific Region, where discussions and side meetings are held on various topics such as aviation safety, security, air navigation, aviation and the environment, and economic development of air transportation.

CAAP is the national aviation authority of the Philippines, representing the country in the international aviation community as a member state of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
