The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recently announced that this premier town has successfully passed the criteria of the 2023 Seal of Good Governance. It emerged as the lone awardee in Albay and one of the few to garner the honor in the Bicol Region.
In a recent letter to Polangui Mayor Raymond Adrian E. Salceda, DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., who chairs the Council of Good Local Governance, conveyed the announcement and his salutations for the honor his town has received.
Out of 1,715 LGUs assessed this year, the Municipality of Polangui is among those that have substantially met the all-in standards of the Seal. We, at the Council of Good Local Governance, are proud to have witnessed how you take on the challenge of becoming exemplars of ‘tapat at mahusay na pamahalaang local,’” Abalos said in his letter.
As an SGLG [Seal of Good Governance] passer, your LGU is entitled to the SGLG Incentive Fund and other national program windows, subject to specific guidelines, it added.
Mayor Salceda will receive the award at the 2023 SGLG Awarding Ceremony at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.
Mayor Salceda is the son of Albay Second District Congressman Joey Sarte Salceda, who, during his nine-year term as governor of Albay, has himself been an exemplary public servant and has reaped numerous international and national awards for his province.
Polangui is Albay’s premier municipality, a hub for education, transportation, and agro-industrial production in the region. It is committed to delivering exceptional love and service, upholding inclusivity, transparency, ethics, and accountability, and ensuring a thriving community for Polangueños, Mayor Salceda declared.
