A party-list lawmaker on Wednesday appealed to the three branches of government to work together to provide job security, food security, and quality healthcare for the Filipino people.
Rep. Wilbert T. Lee of the AGRI party-list made the plea as representatives of the Executive, Judiciary, and Legislative branches of government joined religious leaders at the 48th Philippine National Prayer Breakfast (PNPB) at the Manila Hotel.
Speaking on behalf of the House of Representatives, Lee said he was “deeply grateful and honored for this opportunity to come together in God’s name and presence, and offer prayers for our nation.”
“I believe in the popular saying, ‘prayers can move mountains’… we that with God, nothing is impossible, nothing is impossible when we pray,” Lee said.
He said it was a blessing for the government and the religious leaders to be united in prayer.
“May we continue to pray for each other, show love and compassion and work hand-in-hand in pursuing our shared initiatives—job security, food security, quality health care, a peaceful, prosperous and just society for all, a society where we are all winners and no one is left behind,” Lee added.
Among those present at the event were Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, retired Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez, Senator Mark Villar, and former Senator Joey Lina, Jr.
