Regal Entertainment’s Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme trended on different social media platforms in October because many couldn’t believe that the film was not included among the official entries in the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival.
Some expressed that the annual film festival during Christmas is incomplete without the inclusion of the iconic and longest-running movie series in the Philippines.
For the stars of the horror movie, it’s not an issue that their film wasn’t selected as a participant in MMFF 2023. Speaking on behalf of her co-actors, Iza Calzado said: “It’s exciting that we won’t prolong the suspense of horror. We’ll get ahead before Christmas; as you said, Christmas came early in the form of Shake, Rattle & Roll.”
“I think no matter what season, no matter what, summer, wherever you place Shake, Rattle & Roll, there will always be people watching it because, as a testament, the online buzz among people is very strong. But we just really want to watch it whatever the playdate is,” she added.
Meanwhile, Regal Entertainment executive producer Roselle Monteverde expressed gratitude for the support their film has received from the audience. She also reminded everyone that Regal is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023. “Not all Regal films I get to watch, but Shake, Rattle & Roll, I really watch it every year,” said Roselle.
This rendition of Shake, Rattle & Roll takes a hauntingly exciting turn, offering a fresh and contemporary perspective tailored to engage the imagination of every Filipino moviegoer. The trilogy features “Glitch,” “Mukbang,” and “Rage.”
“Glitch” unveils the darkness of the dark web and how it can control the lives of every individual who consumes it. “Rage” follows the survival of a group of thrill-seekers trying to escape a town facing an unknown epidemic that transforms its residents into flesh-eating and wrathful individuals.
Lastly, “Mukbang” follows the influencers and content creators hungry for likes and engagement who are blindsided by shape-shifting monsters with an appetite for human flesh, trying to steal their human form.
