CAAP, DOTr launch new facilities in GenSan airport

Transportation and aviation authorities have launched new facilities
at General Santos International Airport in Mindanao to enhance

The airport’s newly constructed boarding bridges and the 2nd floor of
the passenger terminal building were opened, enhancing air travel

(CAAP) spokesman Eric Apolonio.

Apolonio said the new bridges allow for smoother passenger movement
between the terminal and aircraft, while the expanded 2nd floor offers
more lounge space for departing passengers.

Additionally, six new food and souvenir shops have been opened on the
second floor to cater to waiting passengers’ needs and promote local
businesses.

The airport’s growth is expected to be boosted by the addition of more
airlines and passengers, enhancing connectivity.

“As we officially open to the public these improvements at General
Santos International Airport, we thank the local government unit of
Gensan, the GSIA airport community, and our stakeholders for their
support in our work in pursuit of providing the country with a safe,
accessible, and comfortable air travel experience,” said CAAP Director
General Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

The launching was attended by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista,
General Santos City Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, Sarangani Province
Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, and airline executives.
