Deputy majority leader and Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin has sought additional financial assistance for the deaf, mute, blind, and those with Down syndrome.
Garin wanted the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) of the administration to cater to those individuals with such conditions.
“It’s only right for us to provide help to our disadvantaged citizens,” she said.
Garin, a former Health Secretary, proposed that such a move be implemented during the BPSF in Iloilo. The lady solon is former Department of Health (DOH) secretary.
Eventually, Garin said she hoped that this type of assistance would be implemented nationwide.
“This program is a big help in hastening the release of documents for our countrymen. The administration offers quick and easy service to its people,” Garin said.
The BPSF, a project of President Marcos and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, aims to bring government services closer to the Filipino people.
Launched at multiple locations in the country last Sept. 23, the fair is an all-encompassing service caravan.
Among the major social services offered by the BPSF include enrollment in the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) or Government Internship Program (GIP), legal counseling, distribution of farm inputs and machinery, Tulong Dunong Program, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) scholarships and program enrollment, financial assistance programs, Kadiwa stores, and SB Corp. services for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
