Aiko pays out P20m in ayuda to 10.5k QC residents

Quezon City Councilor Aiko Melendez’s office has recently provided medical assistance to 10,500 residents via guarantee letters.

Melendez said a total of P20 million went to 10,500 QCitizens in financial assistance to help them in their medical needs.

The former actress expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the legislators and the Department of Social Welfare and Development through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis (AICS).

“I am thankful that our office has become a channel for delivering assistance from the national government and our legislators to our constituents facing hardships and challenges in their lives,” she said.

She vowed to continue working with all sectors that could provide assistance to the impoverished residents.

Melendez was recently honored with the National Outstanding Humanitarian and Leadership Service award, along with Mayor Joy Belmonte who was recognized as the National Outstanding Mayor of the Philippines by the Saludo Excellence Award.

Melendez credited her achievement to meaningful collaborations with legislators and  DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

“AICS is direct assistance provided by the DSWD to Filipinos facing crises. Our goal is to ensure that no citizen is left behind, and we will continue to strive to reach more of our fellow countrymen through this program,” she said.
