President Marcos is set to fly to San Francisco, USA next week to participate in the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

The President will also visit the Filipino community in Hawaii on Nov. 18-19 following his attendance to the APEC summit from Nov. 15-17.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Charles Jose said Tuesday at a Palace press briefing that Mr. Marcos will also have working visits in Los Angeles, California and Honolulu, Hawaii, where he will visit the US Indo-Pacific Command headquarters on the Americans’ invitation.

The announcement comes following talks between the Philippines, United States, and Japan on the tensions surrounding the East and South China Seas at the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Jakarta. Last week, Manila and Tokyo agreed to start the negotiations on the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA), similar to the country’s Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the US, during Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s two-day state visit to the Philippines.
