President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday shared some of his supernatural encounters inside Malacañang Palace a day before the country’s observance of “Undas” or All Saints’ Day.

In a vlog posted on his Facebook account, Mr. Marcos and presidential son and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos took their viewers on a quick tour inside the country’s seat of power and discussed its rich, if not spooky, history.

Mr. Marcos revealed how he and certain Palace personnel experienced a feeling of being followed while walking along its expansive hallways and the grand staircase.

He said an American man named “Father Brown,” a former employee of the Palace during the American occupation, was believed to be the one haunting the place.

“When we first arrived at the Palace, our security personnel used to sleep and lay down their beds there at night. It was rumored that sometimes at night, they were awakened by someone they called Father Brown,” he said.

“I asked, ‘Why? Who is Father Brown?’ When we looked into the history of this Palace, there was indeed an American named Father Brown who used to work here during the American period,” Mr. Marcos said.

Also called Mr. Brown, the supernatural being is the Palace’s resident “kapre” a mythological giant that sits on big trees — this one at the balete tree in front of Malacañang — and smokes a cigar.

Mr. Marcos also told stories of ghost sighting and ghost hunting with his friends while in Malacañang, which was originally constructed as a summer residence for Don Luis Rocha Camina in the 1750s.

President Marcos likewise reminded the public to be cautious in their travels and belongings during the observance of “Undas.”

“To all those who are on vacation or out of town now, let’s be careful on the road, keep our cemeteries clean, and take care of your belongings,” he said.

Mr. Marcos is scheduled to visit the grave of his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., today (Wednesday) at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani in Taguig City.
