BOC reports revenues of P31.3b from January to September

The Bureau of Customs–Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) reported revenues of P31.3 billion from January to September this year.

BOC District Collector Atty. Yasmin Mapa also said that this surpassed the collection target by P1.1 billion for the period.

“This accomplishment underscores the persistent commitment of BOC-NAIA in contributing to the overall targets of the Bureau,” said Mapa during the celebration of the BOC’s 63rd founding anniversary.

The event, he said, brought together BOC’s dedicated employees and key stakeholders to commemorate over 60 decades of dedicated public service under the theme, “Beyond Borders: A New Era for Digitalization and Customs Excellence.”

Acknowledging the importance of streamlined customs processes, he said BOC-NAIA achieved a milestone in August 2023 by passing its Second Surveillance Audit for ISO Quality Management System Certification. 

With 23 enrolled ISO-certified processes and 10 ISO support processes, the port holds the highest number of certified processes among all BOC ports. 

“This certification ensures international recognition of cargo clearance procedures, promoting ease of doing business for passengers and stakeholders,”    said Mapa. 

He assured they remain steadfast in its enforcement policies, intercepting narcotics with an estimated street value of P994 million in 2023. Mapa aldo underscored    the port’s role in preventing the entry of illicit goods, seizing a total of P1 billion worth of drugs, jewelry, wildlife, currencies, medicines, and other regulated items. 

The port received commendations from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for curbing wildlife smuggling.

Aligned with the celebration’s theme, BOC-NAIA is actively advancing digitalization efforts. The port is in the pilot testing phase of the electronic airwaybill submission and is organizing consultative discussions for the Electronic Tracking of Air Cargoes. Furthermore, he said pland are underway to introduce a system for categorizing cargoes and collaborating with relevant agencies to incorporate iDeclare into the e-travel system for a unified travel declaration platform.

The celebration also featured the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the BOC and the Philippine Postal Corporation, aiming to improve the speed, security, and quality of customs clearance for postal items.

Moreover, BOC-NAIA unveiled its newly redesigned website and E-Airway Bill System during the event, demonstrating a commitment to modernizing operations.

In the celebration, top importers and outstanding employees were alsi revognized.
