The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is ready to put in place green lane counters at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) this holiday season.

The green lanes can also be used by frequent travelers and foreigners with an Alien Certificate of Registration Identity card (ACR I-card), Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.

The official said the green lanes are almost ready for operation next month to assist travelers during the peak season.

“The green lanes are special lanes for travelers who hold long-term visas to the country and frequent travelers. They are the travelers who are less vulnerable. So there’s less assessment needed for them,” she said during the MACHRA breakfast forum.

Meanwhile, the bureau has observed an increase in volume of international travel and tourist arrivals in the country in the past several days.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said there has been a significant increase in arriving passengers in the past days, showing that tourism and international travel is already on the rebound.

Tansingco added that arrival may even surpass the 4 million figure for the last quarter of the year.

From January to August, the BI already reported 8,117,286 Filipino and foreign passenger arrivals in the country.
