The long wait is over. Binibining Pilipinas International 2022, Nicole Borromeo, looked like a winner in an elegant Protacio Jr. Empaces I strapless dress when she showed up for her sendoff held at the Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall in Araneta City on Wednesday.
With a flawless complexion and a radiant smile, doll-face Borromeo is ready to give the candidates of Miss International 2023 a run for their money.
“I can feel victory,” Borromeo confidently said during the event organized by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), attended by her Binibining Pilipinas sisters, friends, supporters, and members of the media.
The 22-year-old Interior Design student from the University of San Carlos School is an advocate for holistic well-being and art therapy. Borromeo provided art therapy sessions to wounded soldiers at V. Luna Hospital during the celebration of National Heroes Day.
“I see the importance of well-being, both physically and mentally. When I joined Binibini, I wanted to highlight how important it is for everybody to have a place they call home because how can you have the mental fortitude to face the adversities of life, to enjoy life, when you don’t even have the basic necessity of a safe and decent environment for your health,” Borromeo explained when asked about her chosen platform for the competition.
Rintaro Shigeyoshi, press officer of the Embassy of Japan, graced the sendoff. Borromeo thanked all her supporters and her fellow Binibining Pilipinas queens: Binibining Globe Annalena Lakrini, Binibining 2022 2nd runner-up Stacey Gabriel, Binibining Intercontinental 2022 Gabrielle Basiano, Binibining 2023 1st runner-up Katrina Anne Johnson, Binibining 2023 2nd runner-up Atasha Reign Parani, and Binibining Pilipinas International 2023 Angelica Lopez.
A major change will happen for this year’s 61st Miss International pageant as the candidates will only compete in their swimsuits during a closed-door setting. The grand finale will be held at Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 2 in Shibuya, Tokyo, on October 26 where Miss International 2022 Jasmin Selberg will relinquish her crown.
