Governor Joet Garcia led the awarding of eleven barangays in Bataan, each receiving P100,000 for the 2023 1st and 2nd Quarter Awarding of the 1Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay.

Vice Governor Cris Garcia, provincial board members, and Provincial Health Office (PHO) head Dr. Rosanna Buccahan and mayors joined in the awarding.

Only Barangay East Daang Bago of Samal Town was recognized for the 1st quarter while 2nd quarter winners were Barangays Tabing-Ilog, West Calaguiman, and East Daang Bago in Samal, Barangays Pantalang Bago, Puksuan, and Silahis in Orani, Barangay San Simon in Dinalupihan, and Barangays Balut I, Bantan Munti, and Nagwaling in Pilar.

Bataan has 237 barangays.

The PHO assessed the top-performing barangays using a monitoring and evaluation tool based on Provincial Ordinance No. 7 passed by the Bataan Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The evaluation criteria encompassed several critical factors, including preventing or decreasing dengue cases, non-communicable diseases, rabies, dangerous drug abuse, and teenage pregnancy, among other standards.

The barangays were also assessed on their implementation of various programs such as national immunization, family planning, voluntary blood donation, national tuberculosis control, and nutrition initiatives, as well as their efforts to encourage constituents to register with PhilHealth.

PHO said barangays that consistently secure this recognition for four consecutive quarters within the year will receive an additional P200,000 as incentives and funds to improve health programs further.
