Police have rescued a 29-year-old Vietnamese woman from the hands of three kidnappers who demanded a ransom and held her captive for almost five days in a condominium in Pasay City.
With the help of the security guard of the Gardens by the Bay Residences on Roxas Boulevard, elements of the Pasay Police Sub-Station 1 entered Unit 22F where the three suspects detained the victim, Nguyen Thi Ly, a resident of SMDC Coast Residences.
The authorities arrested Mai Ngoc Huyen, 24, and Tran Duy Anh, 26, both Vietnamese nationals, and the Chinese national Wang Jie, 27, who occupied the condo unit where they ‘imprisoned’ the victim.
Investigation showed that the suspects abducted the victim on Sept. 24 at 6:19 a.m. at the Ava Hotel in Pasay City and demanded a large amount of money in exchange for her freedom.
The victim thought that the suspects would release him after giving them P900,000 but the three continued to hold her captive, prompting the victim’s Singaporean friend Nicky Wang to ask for police assistance and told them about the abduction.
The police then formed a team and conducted the operation resulting in the arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victim.
The suspects are now facing kidnapping charges at the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
