The Taguig City government has inaugurated its e-library at the newly constructed multipurpose building in Barangay Wawa.

The spacious, air-conditioned library is equipped with 10 computer units, each Internet- and Microsoft Office-ready for basic functions like research, writing, multimedia presentation, email, and data analysis.

It also houses the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (Starbooks), a digital learning platform offering thousands of digitized resources related to science, technology, and innovation.

The library also provides access to the National Library of the Philippines’ Tekno-Aklatan program, offering offline electronic resources.

At present, the management is working on making Zoom meetings and other video conferencing platforms available.

The library has dedicated personnel ready to assist visitors throughout their stay.

Walk-in visits are allowed for Barangay Wawa residents, while visitors from other areas are required to book with the barangay at least 24 hours in advance. The library is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In June, Mayor Laarni Cayetano led the opening of the three-story multipurpose hall designed to serve as a venue for a wide range of activities and services for the community. One of the building’s features is the e-library.

Cayetano is hoping the new structure will help public servants give residents better services.

“The building will remain just a building, and its purpose will not be fulfilled if it is not lived in by public servants who will provide ample services to the people,” the city chief executive said.
