Terrafirma made Fil-American Stephen Holt as the first overall pick of the 2023 PBA Draft at Market! Market! in Taguig on Sunday.
A veteran of the Australian and European leagues, the 6’4” Holt is a 31-year-old rookie, who had stints in the NBA G League and the Summer League with the Atlanta Hawks after going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Meanwhile, Butler University product Christian David was chosen no. 2 overall by the Blackwater Bossing, while University of the East’s Luis Villegas was selected No. 3 overall pick by Rain or Shine.
Other picks in the first round were Keith Datu (no. 4 Rain or Shine), Zavier Lucero (no. 5 NorthPort), Kenneth Tuffin (no. 6 Phoenix), Richard Rodger (no. 7 NLEX), Brandon Bates (no. 8 Meralco), Schonny Winston (no. 9 Converge), Bryan Andrade (no. 10 Converge), Cade Flores (no. 11 NorthPort) and TJ Miller (no. 12 Terrafirma).
Controversial PBA hopeful and former UP Maroon Ricci Rivero, who was anticipated to be picked in the first round, fell to no. 17 overall in the second round, and was selected by Phoenix.
