MMDA to construct P70-million Roxas Boulevard Promenade

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Philippine Reclamation Authority to establish the Roxas Boulevard Promenade from Epifanio de los Santos Avenue to Libertad Extension in Pasay City.

The MMDA is set to spend P70 million to construct the 800-meter linear park along the boulevard, aiming to create a greener, more vibrant, and more interconnected metropolis.

The park will feature bike and jogging paths, a pet park, and a football pitch, providing a space for families to bond, advocate fitness, and enjoy leisure.

The construction is expected to be completed in time for the holiday season.

MMDA chairman Romando Artes said the project is an offshoot of the agency’s Adopt-a-Park project and aims to promote an active lifestyle and contribute to the overall wellness of Metro Manila residents through the rehabilitation and development of parks and open spaces within the metropolis.

The construction fund will be sourced from the MMDA’s budget, but its maintenance will be shared with the local government of Pasay.

Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto Rubiano welcomed the development, urging everyone to participate in this advocacy for the well-being of the people while taking care of the earth.

The MMDA is also in talks with the Paranaque City government and the PRA to extend the promenade until NIA Road.

The agency is also looking to develop parks in the cities of Manila, Pasig, and Taguig in the coming months.
