“Tara” looking to be GrabCar alternative

A new ride-hailing app is looking to make waves as a now-viral post on Facebook by Erwin Dee announces his self-made project “Tara”.

Tara boasts itself as the “beacon of change the ride-hailing industry has been waiting for” claiming that the app will provide lower fares for its users while not affecting the driver’s earnings.

In the post, the app promises cheaper fares and states that the LTFRB’s fare matrix will be strictly followed to avoid higher rates and surcharges.

With this practice, the user is expected to save up to Php 300 when compared to the alternatives if they plan to travel long distances.

In the app’s goal to be beneficial to the driver while keeping costs to a minimum, the post states that the full price of commission to the driver is only for the driver.

The app’s main difference from all other Philippine ride-hailing apps is its plans to implement a subscription-based model.

The idea of having the app be subscription-based has been done abroad, namely Uber and Lyft, with the passes offering commuters rewards and benefits based on the level of their subscription.

Tara also plans to implement such a subscription plan with increasing level of benefits based on what the user avails.

Initially, the deals proposed are; Basic with Php 30, Regular with Php 300, and Partner at Php 3000.

The post claims that the subscriptions would be enough to fund the operations of the app such as its upkeep, and improvements.

As of checking, the post has garnered 16 thousand reactions and 10 thousand shares which can both signal support for the proposed project or the need for a good Grab car alternative.
