Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has spearheaded the distribution of financial aid to some 2,000 drivers and student-beneficiaries in Bulacan province.
The move was in line with the policy of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to provide better services to the people through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under Sec. Rex Gatchalian, a former congressman and mayor of Valenzuela City.
Romualdez, head of the 311-member House of Representatives and husband of Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, distributed P5,000 aid to each of the 1,000 qualified Jeepney Operator and Drivers Association members, as well as 1,000 students.
The AICS payout was held at the Valencia Hall of the Bulacan State University in Malolos City.
Romualdez, who was guest of honor during the ribbon-cutting ceremonies, expressed admiration for the organization of Tingog “where the Filipinos’ inherent bayanihan trait is still very much prevalent.”
“This center represents more than just a building; it is a pillar of hope. It stands as a symbol that, despite the challenges and adversities, the spirit of bayanihan prevails,” he said as he inaugurated the Alagang Tingog Center (ATC) in the first district of Bulacan on Wednesday.
“I am incredibly proud to be associated with a team that works relentlessly towards making a difference,” the Speaker added, highlighting the “innate attribute of Filipino culture to help each other, which apparently remains customary despite today’s digital age.”
“This initiative is a testament to Tingog party-list’s unwavering dedication to delivering assistance and care to our kababayans. Our mission is clear: To ensure that government services reach every nook
and cranny of our nation, especially in areas that often feel overlooked,” Romualdez stressed.
The Speaker said he was glad that characteristics like the power of unity, service, and compassion are still common among Filipinos, regardless of their status in life.
The inauguration of the ATC, according to him, likewise suits well to the marching order of President Marcos who urged and challenged all civil servants to be more efficient and expand government services to the greatest number of people.
“Chairperson Yedda Marie and House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre of Tingog party-list have demonstrated unparalleled commitment and drive, ensuring that the ATC is not just an idea but a tangible reality,” the Speaker said.
As far as he was concerned, the dedication and commitment given by the two Tingog legislators serve “as a reminder of the heights we can achieve when we put our minds and hearts together for the betterment of our communities.”
“To the people of Bulacan, I want to assure you that the national government and the House are here for you. We hear you, we see you, and we are committed to uplifting your lives. I would like to reiterate my gratitude for allowing me to be part of this monumental milestone,” he said.
“The inauguration of the ATC is not just a celebration of a new building, but a celebration of hope, unity, and progress. Let this day mark the beginning of an era where the people of Bulacan, and the entire nation, feel more connected, heard, and cared for,” Romualdez stressed.
