AirAsia Philippines said it is supporting the government’s new travel guidelines to combat the rising human trafficking in the country.

“We fully support the government’s intensified drive against human trafficking and understand the wisdom of our partners in its implementation to create a safer travel landscape for all,” AirAsia Philippines communications and public affairs head Steve Dailisan said.

“In fact, we too are strengthening awareness and training measures among our Allstars [employees] as part of our robust efforts to prevent and clampdown on trafficking across air travel,” he said.

AirAsia Philippines said it remained dedicated to continually engaging all stakeholders as it collectively works towards improving the travel and tourism industry and serving the best interests for every Filipino.

Under the revised guidelines, aside from the inspection of basic travel documents, immigration officers may ask relevant clarificatory questions and require outbound passengers to show additional supporting documents.

The basic travel documents include passport valid at least six months from the date of departure, boarding pass, appropriate visa, whenever required and confirmed return or roundtrip ticket.
