GLOBAL sports brand PUMA continues to cement its presence in the Philippine basketball scene with the launch of its Our Ball Above All campaign, which aims to pay homage to Filipinos’ passion for the sport and ignite basketball fever among Pinoy basketball enthusiasts.
As the biggest sport in the Philippines, basketball is deeply rooted in Pinoy culture.
Whether barefoot on a makeshift court in barangays or with shoes on a taraflex court in stadiums, Filipino hoopers will dribble and shoot as long as they have a ball. Recognizing this unique basketball culture, PUMA’s latest campaign in the market gathers the Filipino basketball community to show their love for the sport and express their support for the national team in the upcoming basketball world cup.
PUMA will kick off its month-long campaign with exciting consumer activities at the PUMA stores in North EDSA, Gateway, Eastwood, and both Glorietta PUMA and Foot Locker from August 14 to September 10, 2023. PUMA and basketball fans can score a Philippine-exclusive basketball jersey until supplies last by participating in in-store happenings such as the #OurBallAboveAll zone or by presenting their Gilas team match tickets.
PUMA Hoops’ newest revolutionary kicks, the All-Pro Nitro, will be showcased in the mentioned locations.
Dubbed as a pre-basketball season pep rally, the #OurBallAboveAll campaign will also boast of a number of sporting and cultural activities from August 19 to 20 at Glorietta Mall Activity Centre in Makati.
Bannering the two-day fun-filled affair is the 3×3 basketball tourney, headlined by select sports personalities such as Blackwater Bossing power forward Gab Banal, NCAA courtside reporter Baileys Acot, conditioning coach and basketball analyst Juanito Gregorio, TV host and sports commentator Miguel Dypiangco, and model and actor Vince Maristela. The elimination round is slated on August 19, while the semifinals and finals will happen on August 20.
Joining the pre-basketball season rally event on August 19 is PUMA global ambassador and Filipino basketball pride Kai Sotto who will engage with fans and media from 2:30 p.m. onwards.
Fans will get an opportunity to take pictures with Kai while the media will get a chance to interview him in preparation for the big basketball season.
In addition to the on-court action, PUMA acknowledges the significance of culture in sports and honors Pinoy basketball through art, style, and music that basketball fans and the general public can enjoy. The pep rally campaign will hold a DJ rap battle on both days, featuring FlipTop Rap Battle League Dos Por Dos 2 champion Frooz, Sunugan rap tournament finalist Zaki, Morobeats Bara sa Bara Freestyle Battle winner Gnarly Man, and Awit Awards nominee Juan Lazy.
Mall goers can likewise avail a free haircut at the barber shop and PUMA customers can personalize their PUMA gear at the shirt customization booth available onsite.
Basketball fans and PUMA customers are also in for an awesome treat during the 2-day event. They can score special prizes by showcasing their hooping skills in a 3-point shootout.
The Philippine-exclusive “Passion for the Game” tees and blue “Tatak Pilipinas” jersey are available for purchase. The yellow variant is the special prize that awaits the winners of the in-store activities.
The German sports brand will also release Philippine-exclusive apparel design in time for the rising heat of the upcoming basketball season in the country. Basketball fans can avail limited edition PUMA “Passion for the Game” tees and the “Tatak Pilipinas” jersey, which retail for P1,500 and P1,900, respectively. An exclusive promo also awaits those who will purchase at the event venue in Glorietta – buy a second Philippine-exclusive apparel and get a 50% discount!
“Filipinos’ enthusiasm and anticipation for more basketball action just keep getting bigger and stronger, and PUMA is more than ready to satisfy that hunger with the launch of Our Ball Above All campaign. This also shows our commitment to continuously support basketball in the country and recognize and celebrate Pinoys’ unrelenting love for the game,” said Paolo Misa, PUMA Philippines Country Manager.
