The Manila International Airport Authority has announced there will be a power supply interruption at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3 South Concourse and Roadway 2 Substations scheduled on Aug. 8 and 9, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The airport management assured that “the power interruption will have no impact on flight operations.”

“This temporary power shutdown is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and upgrades to NAIA Terminal 3’s electrical system, aimed at improving its overall reliability,” the MIAA stated in its advisory Monday night.

“During this period, standby generators will be operational at the said substations to ensure continuous power supply to critical equipment. We apologize for the inconvenience as limited areas across Levels 1 to 3 of Terminal 3 South Concourse will be affected by this interruption,” it added.

The areas to be affected by the interruption include the office of Air Asia Philippines, the lighting and outlets at Boarding Gates 101-112, moving walkways and elevators on Levels 2 and 3 of the International side, Independent air conditioning systems for Boarding Gates 101-112 and passenger boarding bridges, Ramp offices, and food and retail concessionaires on Level 1.

“We ask for your understanding as we undertake these necessary repairs and upgrades in order to enhance the overall passenger experience and ensure seamless airport operations. Thank you,” the MIAA stated.

The MIAA management is in the process of improving the facilities and passenger processing systems at the airport following the brownouts that happened on May 1 and on June 9.
