The Taguig City government has inaugurated the Center for Disaster Management building in Barangay Central Signal, a new facility that
aims to elevate disaster and emergency response capabilities in the city.

Mayor Laarni Cayetano on Thursday led the inauguration of the five-story building stands as a vital hub for coordinating emergency
efforts, ensuring swift and effective response in the event of calamities and disasters.

Cayetano described the Center as an essential venue for providing city personnel with comprehensive training and seminars on disaster
management and response.

Designed to accommodate various critical functions, the Center houses the Taguig Open Weather & Environmental Reporting (TOWER) System, along with other government offices. In times of calamities, it serves as an evacuation center, offering refuge and assistance to those in need.

It has a specialized training room, open to individuals seeking to acquire fundamental disaster management skills. This room is equipped
with state-of-the-art facilities and essential equipment, allowing first responders and rescuers to respond effectively to emergencies.

The structure was also built with a playing court on the fifth floor, which can be used for basketball, volleyball, badminton, and other
indoor sports.

According to Mayor Cayetano, her vision for Taguig as a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City is reflected in this state-of-the-art venue.

“Again, we thanked the Lord for this. He has bestowed another great blessing on our city. A facility complete with equipment, vehicles
that will provide immediate response to residents in the event of disaster, calamity, or emergency,” she said.

Since January, a total of 17,000 individuals have been trained to learn the standard first aid. The participants came from various
barangays, private agencies, employees, schools, and private establishments in the city, reflecting the growing interest and importance of such training among residents and workers.

The construction of the Center was made possible during Mayor Cayetano’s term as Taguig’s 2nd District Representative, with the
invaluable support of her husband then-House Speaker and now Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
