Massive floods triggered by continuing monsoon rains forced hundreds of residents in Bocaue, Bulacan to evacuate their homes over the weekend.

Reports said at least 400 people or 100 families went to the Bocaue Public Market to seek shelter.

Some of the residents were reportedly staying in the market since Thursday, when the downpours due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the effect of Typhoon “Egay” began.

Authorities meanwhile reported that the Bocaue River reached its critical level of 12.5 meters on Sunday.

The local government said it has provided relief goods to the affected families, most of whom stayed inside market stalls.
