DTI’s Europe trip yields P73-b investment leads

Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said Monday the trade and investments roadshows in Europe yielded P73 billion in investments leads for the Philippine trade delegation.

“We are expecting that in about five to six years, a number of these, if not all, will come to fruition,” he said.

The delegation documented 48 investments leads, including 16 projects which have the potential to materialize in the near term. These include six renewable energy projects, six projects in the IT and business process management sector, two manufacturing projects and two infra-related projects.

Dutch firm Van Der Knaap is expected to establish a coco peat pilot factory in the Philippines this year. Coco peats are used as substrate by advanced countries in their farming methods through the greenhouse technology.

Pascual said six energy projects would likely be completed within a five-year period, including the permitting processes and the conduct of feasibility studies. Most of the RE projects were proposed by German companies.
