PNP drug haul hit over P6.2b from Jan. to June

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that seized illegal drugs from January 1 to June 9, 2023, reached more than P6.2 billion.

The PNP also reported a decrease of almost 10% in crime situations across the country.

During this period, the PNP said it has conducted 19,464 anti-drug operations across the country which resulted in the arrest of 25,641 drug offenders.

The PNP said it remains stern in its campaign against narcotics together with various government agencies.

PNP Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda said that the national police is in full support of the Buhay Ingatan Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) program by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The BIDA program led by DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos Jr. was created to reduce the demand for illegal drugs in society.

The PNP also apprehended 31,956 offenders included in their wanted list.

Meanwhile, the national police campaign against loose firearms recorded 3,904 arrested individuals and 12,373 firearms recovered.

The PNP stated that these numbers showed the effectiveness and efficiency of anti-crime strategies and programs laid out by the national police.

“These numbers are manifestations that we have effective and efficient anti-crime strategies and programs and we continue to provide a safe environment to every Filipino and a healthy economic environment to the business sector,” the PNP said in a statement.

“The PNP assures the public that we will continue to do our mandated tasks with the highest regard to human rights and utmost dedication for our countrymen,” Acorda said.
