Power firms hold nuke plant tour for mediamen

Power plant companies GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co (GMEC) organized a power plant tour and invited members of the media to attend.

The companies said members of the media were introduced to the operations of the power plants.

The tour was participated by newsmen coming from Bataan and Zambales; as well as from media outlets DZRH, NET25, iOrbitNews, Punto Central Luzon, Central Luzon Herald, 88.7 FM Olongapo, KFive Zambales, and Radyo Bandera.

The members of the media outfits were escorted by representatives from GNPD and GMEC in touring the two plants. Prior to the tour, the journalists underwent safety orientations and wore the necessary gear.

Edgardo Cruz from GNPD  Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)  Department briefed the media on safety gear and the reminders for plant visitors, while Mike Delara from the GMEC-OSH department gave instructions on the use of the protective gear.

GNPD Deputy Plant Manager Young Comaad explained the operations and equipment employed by GNPD. Arthur Mercado, Operations Support Supervisor, represented GMEC and introduced its operations, materials, and processes.  

Joey Chavez, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of GMEC, updated media men on their initiatives on reforestation and rehabilitation of the forests in Mariveles and the scholarship program.  Associate Vice President and Head of Community Relations Department Arcel Madrid said  GMEC and GNPD launched plant tours to strengthen its relation to with press.
