Frasco: Unity will help revitalize tourism in Laguna

PAGSANJAN, Laguna –The municipalities of Pagsanjan, Cavinti, and Lumban signed a tripartite agreement this June 6, Tuesday in Pagsanjan, Laguna.

The agreement aims to preserve the Pagsanjan Gorge National Park and Cavinti Falls as important natural attractions and to re-grow the tourism sector in the province.

In her message, Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said she believes the unity of the municipalities and their respective leaders will help a lot to restore the vitality of tourism, as they have done and believed in her home province of Cebu.

DOT IV-A Regional Director Marites Castro and Governor Ramil Hernandez witnessed the signing of the agreement by Pagsanjan Mayor Cesar Areza, Cavinti Mayor Arrantlee Arroyo, and Lumban Mayor Rolando Ubatay.

in the message of Pagsanjan Mayor Areza, “On this day this project has been completed to have a tripartite agreement, this is a big thing for tourism in the town of Pagsanjan, this is a historic today because we continue to promote agritourism”

The Secretary also led the oath-taking of the PACALUM Tourism Council, which will implement tourism programs under the tripartite agreement.

Part of the program is for the three towns to share resources as the Pasanjan Falls River comes from their tri-area.

DOT will also help provide free boats and scholarships for boatmen or “bangkeros” plying the river.
