The acclaimed all-Filipino musical, Ang Huling El Bimbo (AHEB), transcends its powerful on-stage performances to leave a lasting impact on the minds and hearts of both artists and fans long after leaving the theater.
Since its premiere in 2018 and its recent contemporary restaging in April, AHEB has ignited the creativity and passion of fellow artists, inspiring them to create and share their art with the world.
Located at Newport World Resorts’ The Grove 2F Newport Mall, the AHEB Fan Art Exhibit showcases an impressive collection of artworks created by devoted fans. These artworks beautifully depict the significance that the musical has carved into their lives.
From traditional paintings to digital and mixed media, Newport World Resorts presents over a dozen captivating works that captivate the eye. The iconic sedan, the same one used on stage and illuminated by vibrant lights, beckons passersby and enthusiasts to delve into the world of AHEB art.
On the gallery walls, artist Jairo Panglinawan expertly plays with shadows and light, crafting symbolic moments from the musical through precise silhouette cutouts. Jamie Dela Cruz brings Joy, Anthony, Hector, and Emman to life with vivid pixel art, capturing their youthful spirit. Meanwhile, Jelli Marie Marcos uses watercolor and gouache to create expressive snapshots of the characters in a captivating portrait series, among other talented artists.
In the same way that Full House Theater Company (FHTC), the production outfit behind Newport World Resorts, envisions artistic authenticity, the diverse artists who contributed to the AHEB Fan Art Exhibit infuse their work with individuality and genuine storytelling, whether inspired by the musical or original in nature.
Likewise, the lyrics of Eraserheads’ “Paraluman” convey a heart-wrenching story of friendship and falling out, witnessed by over 100,000 Filipinos through live performances and over seven million views online.
AHEB The Musical, skillfully assembled by artists determined to stay true to their craft amidst change, now serves as further evidence that art begets art. Visit the AHEB Fan Art Exhibit at The Grove, 2F Newport Mall to experience this artistic celebration.
