Vice President and Department of Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio encouraged Filipinos to support the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s eight-point social-economic agenda.
“We take this opportunity to remind our women artists, the artists’ community of the country as a whole, and all the participants and viewers of this exhibit to support the Marcos administration’s eight-point social economic agenda,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Duterte-Carpio spoke during the opening of Gahum sa Buwak: Flower Power, a month-long art exhibit featuring women artists and fashion designers from Davao as part of the celebration of International Women’s Month.
She also expressed her optimism for a better Philippines after the Marcos administration.
“In the next six years, the government when required and will include securing transportation, health, education, and social services while reducing energy costs, practicing sound fiscal management, and enhancing bureaucratic efficiency,” she added.
“By enabling robust economic growth, we aim to increase the number of middle-income Filipinos, reduce poverty incidence to 9%, and elevate the Philippines as an upper middle-income economy,” she continued.
Sara also shared the importance of women’s role in terms of leadership in society.
“Clearly, we live in a fortunate time when more and more women have interested leadership roles,” she said.
“As women, we can work together to transcend differences and provide great inspiration to others to be more involved in building a society that is inclusive, support them, and constantly yearning for a more humane expression,” the Education secretary said.
“Let this occasion strengthen our solidarity as women who empower fellow women and as artists who use art to enlighten women’s inherent capacities for nation-building, especially in our environmental protection and conservation efforts and in eliminating violence against women and girls,” the vice president said.
