The City Government of Caloocan, led by Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, conducted a free livelihood training for persons with disability (PWDs) and their families as well as for solo parents at Barangay 73 to help provide opportunities to the beneficiaries.
The Mayor stated that this is aligned with his vision to give every citizen equal means to earn a living and reaching out to the city’s most vulnerable sectors.
Through the coordination of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), a total of 40 individuals were taught how to make “puto,” a local delicacy and dishwashing liquid.
According to PESO Officer-in-charge Violeta Gonzales, the said livelihood require minimal skill and a small capital.
Meanwhile, PDAO Action Officer Kim Daeam Sabay stated that their department shall continue to coordinate with various organizations to help provide more opportunities for PWDs, in line with Mayor Along’s directive.
The local chief executive commended the coordination of the two local departments in helping ensure that the beneficiary sectors have access to government programs.
