Roger Pogoy looked good with NBA veteran Rondae Hollis-Jefferson passing the ball around.
The 30-year-old Pogoy played better than usual as the TNT Tropang Giga smothered the Blackwater Elite Bossings, 138-116, on Wednesday for their fourth straight win in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The 6’2” Pogoy knocked in 40 points for the Tropang Giga, way beyond his average of 16.67 points.
Pogoy, who made seven of 13 three-point attempts, hit hard in the first two quarters as the Tropang Giga established a 68-50 halftime edge, en route to their sixth win seven games.
“Magandang kumpiyansa ito as a player. Na ganitong kainit ang mga three-pointers ko. Mas maganda ang ilalaro ko sa next game,” said Pogoy.
The 6’6” Jefferson, a first-round draft pick of the Portland Trailblazers in the NBA back in 2015, tallied 37 points, and let Pogoy take the shot whenever the former Far Eastern University standout had an opening.
“You can see that Roger has more open shots than I’ve seen in a long time,” said new Tropang Giga coach Jojo Lastimosa.
