It has been customary for many Filipinos to start the year right by focusing on wellness. But achieving a healthy body does not mean depriving ourselves.

Enjoying a chocolate drink without the guilt is possible with Chocolea of Starkaffea Corporation.

Chocolate drinks contain powerful antioxidants such as flavonols that could ward off inflammation and prevent cell damage.

Chocolates also contain prebiotics, which could generate friendly bacteria in our gut. These help produce nutrients for  colon cells, which make up for a healthier digestive system.

Chocolea’s signature healthy sweetener is coconut sugar. A study conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute shows that coconut sugar is classified as a low Glycemic Index (GI) food and is considered as having the lowest GI of 35 among all types of sugar.

Dr. Alberto T. Magpily of the UP College of Human Kinetics Sports Therapy Clinic underscored the wonderful benefits from Chocolea.

He said the coconut sugar in Chocolea regulates blood sugar levels and blood pressure. He said it also helps manage diabetes and boosts the immune system.

Because of these features, Starkaffea Corporation said the sales performance of Chocolea improved by almost 30 percent since its launch in August last year as consumers have become more conscious of their health and wellness.

“We are pleased to collaborate with farmers from Mindanao who are providing us with a steady supply of coconut sugar,” said Cheng Pabilonia, CEO of Starkaffea Corporation.

“We help them but they equally help us tremendously,” she added.

Starkaffea Corporation will re-introduce its “resellers’ program” to returning OFWs to enable them to earn additional income. It also intends to explore global distributorship  opportunities to bring its brands within the reach of Filipinos who are overseas.

Along with Kaffea, Chocolea drinks are now available in Kultura, DTI Go Lokal stores, Fintech companies such as Shopee and Lazada, DTI’s TikTok platform, and almost a hundred partner distributors. Both brands are FDA-registered and halal-certified.
