The National Telecommunications Commission on Monday has ordered all public telecommunications entities the swift restoration of their services in areas battered by tropical storm ‘Paeng’.

“With the onslaught of tropical depression ‘Paeng’, you (public telcos) are hereby directed to expedite the repair and restoration of telecommunication services in the affected service areas,”said the NTC directive, penned by officer-in-charge NTC deputy commissioner Ella Blanca B. Lopez.

“You are directed to ensure that there are sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators with extra fuel, tools and spare equipment in the affected areas,” the NTC memo continued.

Public telcos were also reminded by the NTC “to deploy Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging Stations in strategic areas affected by the tropical depression.”

The commission will be expecting continued status updates of the ongoing restoration activities being performed on the telcos’ network and facilities, plus a timeline for the full restoration of service.
