PAL warns vs. scammers using fake socmed accts

The Philippine Airlines on Tuesday warned the public against unscrupulous individuals using fake PAL social media accounts.

“We wish to alert the public on the existence of bogus Facebook accounts bearing the PAL name with hoax messages soliciting applications for non-existent positions in our company,” the PAL management said in a statement.

PAL officials said a fake FB account entitled “Phil Airlines” is sending messages to individuals inviting them to apply for the job of ‘PAL Foundation ambassadress’ with a request for a face to face meeting.

“We are warning the public that this is a modus operandi by unscrupulous groups.”

“Please note that said Facebook account is not owned and managed by PAL. The PAL Foundation, which is our social support organization, is not in any way involved in a program that requires so-called “Ambassadresses”, they added.

The airline stated that all PAL announcements or statements are issued through our official platforms:

• PAL Facebook account ‘Philippine Airlines’,

• PAL Website www.philippineairlines.com

“Hiring announcements in the form of press releases are also distributed directly to our media stakeholders. Please be guided accordingly.”

PAL earlier warned air travelers also against a syndicate selling “cheap” airline tickets on Facebook and other social media sites.

The modus operandi, according to PAL, involves bulk-buying of tickets that are later sold at low rates via social media sites.

The airline company stated that persons who are enticed to purchase these tickets are eventually informed that the tickets are in the name of fictitious people; the buyers are then offered fake IDs for presentation at airport check-in. J
