“While we are entering a new chapter of this pandemic, the younger generation has virtually lost two years of what could have been a colorful and thriving life. We hope that our young audiences are able to find a role model from our guests, who are no less than our Filipino world champs so that they are better equipped to face the real world and eventually, make up for the lost time to grow as an individual.”

High-caliber Filipino athletes graced the new season of the Goal Diggers YOUTH, featuring Jump-serve Queen Dzi Gervacio, Olympic Equestrienne Toni Leviste, Paralympian Ernie Gawilan, and World Cup-bound Footballer Camille Rodriguez, who shared the sporting journeys that led them to become the renowned athletes they are today.

Seasoned spiker and SEA Games medalist Gervacio gave advice about the importance of serving your purpose in sports and in life. “We try to maximize how we can help the youth and that’s been my purpose as I navigate through life as well. There’s an influx of information that’s easily accessible and I thought, why not share my story? Malay mo, there might be one kid who will be inspired to try sports,” she said.

On the other hand, Asian Games medalist and Olympian Leviste talked about overcoming hurdles and proving that challenge is only a pathway to bigger things. “I’ve always believed that sports is a great vehicle in espousing the three Ds: discipline, dedication, and determination. If we create citizens with strong characters through the three Ds, then we can build a stronger nation,” Leviste said.

Gawilan, meanwhile, shared his experiences as a Paralympian and stressed that physical disability is not a limitation from reaching your goals. Sharing his advice on not giving up, Gawilan said, “Minsan ‘di mo talaga maiiwasan ang disappointment lalo na ‘pag ‘di mo nakuha ang goals mo sa isang competition pero iyon ang nagpapalakas sa isang atleta.”

Rodriguez talked about the winning mentality that led to their win in the recent 2022 ASEAN Football Federation Women’s Championship. “While I could say that a lot of my dreams have come true, masasabi ko pa rin na I’m still aspiring for more. I want to share my story because just like the guests, I want to help another person or aspiring individual to make their own story and hopefully it’s even better than how we started it.”

The Goal Diggers YOUTH Season 2 will also feature Karateka Junna Tsukii, Triathlete Kim Mangrobang, Cagers Kiefer Ravena and Ella Fajardo, Motor Racer Ashley Sison, and finally world number three pole vaulter, EJ Obiena will also form part of the show’s roster of upcoming guests.

Hosted by youth sports hosts, Bey Pinlac, ZanD Bajarias, Louisa Tagulinao, and newcomers Johnny Tango and UAAP football standout Kyra Dimaandal, every episode captures stories of perseverance and determination by highlighting the passions, advocacies and challenges of the athletes in their careers.

“The Goal Diggers YOUTH Season 2 features an amazing pool of international sports personalities who are the elite in their respective fields and have stories that will truly inspire the younger generation,” said Villon. “We are proud to have a lineup of guests that can share very diverse perspectives and experiences in their life journeys that, we hope, many young Filipinos will relate to.”

The Goal Diggers YOUTH Season 2 episodes stream every Saturday at 8:00 pm and will run until October 29.
