The Sweater is a breed of fighting cocks known to pound its opponent into either submission or retreat, while the Kelso bloodline is popular for its fighting style on the ground.

D’Shipper/BBB spokesman Roel Facundo said they were able to choose their bloodlines well for the series of contests that they went through.

“It was joint effort, it was teamwork. We were able to score and concentrate,” said Facundo following Tuesday’s awarding ceremony at the Novo Hotel with the Pampanga-based group of Nyok de Leon, Tony Camayo and Efren Canlas.

De Leon said Team Guagua is celebrating its first win in two years as they had a layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Naka 8-1 kami. Hindi kami nakasali nu’ng last two years dahil sa pandemic,” said De Leon, as Team Guagua ended up sharing the total purse of P5.6 million with D’Shipper/BBB.

Facundo, along with teammates Beng Joson and Jojo Bacar, capped their victory with three consecutive triumphs over the groups of Minalin Cockpit, Sta. Ana and Bulldog.
