Lazatin orders shutdown of MRF in Angeles

Angeles City—Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has ordered the complete closure of the temporary Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Mining in this city beginning June 15.

Lazatin said this during his meeting with Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas, City Engineer and concurrent Environmental Management System Head Donato Dizon, and Pipo Soliman of the MRF.

The mayor explained the city will no longer use an MRF. Instead, all of the waste that will be collected will go straight to the sanitary landfill in Porac town.

“We have coordinated with Porac on this,” Lazatin said.

According to Dizon, dump trucks from Angeles will head straight to the landfill on the same day as the garbage collection.

“That is the arrangement, whatever day the garbage trucks collect trash from the barangays, they will bring it straight to Porac. Mayor Lazatin has ordered us not to use the MRF,” he said.

Lazatin continues to encourage Angeleños to practice proper waste segregation.

Aside from this, the Walang Plastikan: Plastik Palit Bigas Project launched by the mayor continues to operate via schedule in the city’s 33 barangays.

Angeles, through the efforts of Lazatin, also acquired a Bilis Walis truck and plastic shredding machines, both firsts in Pampanga province.
