THE Quezon City government’s Persons with Disability Affairs Officehas apprehended a person for falsification of public documents to acquire several persons with Disability (PWD) identification.

A staff member of PDAO flagged the applications for five PWD ID which allegedly had forged signatures of medical professionals
in their medical certificates.

The applications were filed by only one person, who claimed to be the applicants’ authorized representative.
The PDAO staff, along with representatives from the City Legal Department, requested the assistance of the Quezon City Police District in arresting the alleged fixer.

The suspect is now detained and is set to undergo inquest proceedings. Debbie Dacanay, PDAO chief, warned those who would attempt to falsify or forge necessary documents in PWD ID registration.

“The city government will not take this issue lightly, and we will continue to apprehend and file complaints against these fixers.
We also encourage PWDs to utilize our QC E-Services in applying for PWD/QC ID where they can register online for free,” she said.
Mayor Joy Belmonte has already tasked the QC General Hospital toprovide a free medical assessment on non-apparent disorders for indigent PWD applicants, upon referral to the PDAO.
