The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is taking extra measures to ensure public safety in Metro Manila during the summer season..
NCRPO director P/Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said they are re-implementing a campaign dubbed “Ligtas Sumvac (summer vacation),” and he ordered the deployment of more than 11,000 police officers to secure the public including local and international tourists visiting Metro Manila this summer.
“In observance of the summer vacation, the NCRPO implemented the Ligtas Sumvac 2022 and will deploy more or less 11,352 police officers to maintain peace and order, enforce the law and ensure the implementation of minimum public health standard protocols regionwide,” he said.
Natividad said various activities are being observed during summer, such as: the Holy Week, the Philippine Veterans Week; Araw ng Kagitingan; Labor Day; National Flag Day; Flores de Mayo; town fiestas, ,and the May 9 local and national elections.
The NCRPO will increase patrols of crime hotspots including places of convergence like malls, churches, recreational areas, tourist destinations and areas of transport services.
Natividad assured optimum police presence in these areas regardless of lesser restrictions on the movement and gathering of people.
Aside from the full alert status, the NCRPO chief ordered all district directors and station commanders to focus on the Enhanced Managing Police Operations Strategy and other pre-emptive security measures while the people enjoy family gatherings, town fiestas and other significant events. The NCRPO also coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, force multipliers, volunteer groups and other concerned agencies in the conduct of anti-criminality operations; target hardening measures; traffic management/direction and control, other related police public safety services to ensure the protection of the public and their properties.
Through its Regional Community Affairs Development Division (RCADD), the NCRPO will distribute safety tips pamphlets; and strengthen public engagement and information dissemination for this summer vacation Natividad urged the public to cooperate, to be vigilant, and on alert against -criminals taking of the season.
